My boyfriend is test driving a car this weekend, and has asked me to find a good day out to have on Saturday. We live in city centre Manchester.
He would like to drive about 100 miles, and I would like the destination to be interesting too!

So basically, where can we go for a few hours that is a nice long drive for him, and a nice day out for us both?

Thanks

A nice romantic place believe it or not is Jodrell Bank radio telescope visitor centre 20 miles south of Manchester. The Arboretum has 2000 kinds of trees and shrubs and at this time of year they will be looking fab.

There's a cafe with a view right over the huge telescope dish and a load of displays in the techie bit, with 3-D Mars movies and more space bits.

Driving directions are on the website, first link.

For scenery it would be difficult to beat Ladybower Reservoir for a great place to drive to.

The road out there is brill, terrific views of the reservoir from the tops, and pretty good when you're there. Map on here, and drive the A57 Snake right over Ladybower. What a great test drive for a car. One of the best drives in England, that one.

If you want a real good drive then why not go to Sheffield for the day? Driving over the Snake Pass. That will certainly test the car out!

You could go into the town centre or maybe to Meadowhall?

Then you could maybe come back along the M1/M62 even though it's longer to see what it's like on the motorway.

You don't say what interests you!

Countryside? Go to the Lake District.

Shopping? Any city/large shopping centre

Museums? What type do you like?

The Sea? Blackpool/Southport

How can we suggest something if you don't say what you are interested in?
